Finance Officer (Payables) -
Our client, a respected and well established organisation, is seeking a meticulous and proactive Finance Officer (Payables) to join their busy Finance & IT Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong purchase ledger experience to play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting supplier relationships, and ensuring timely payments across the Group. The ideal candidate will be organised, analytical, and confident working in a high-volume transactional environment.

Key Responsibilities:
· Work collaboratively within the Purchase Ledger team to register all Group invoices in line with purchasing controls and deadlines.
· Match invoices against authorised purchase orders and report any discrepancies to issuing departments.
· Handle creditor queries promptly and professionally via phone, email, fax, or letter.
· Validate approved invoice documents against internal controls and delegated authority before posting to the ledger.
· Carry out weekly payment runs, ensuring all outstanding and due invoices are settled.
· Support continuous improvement activities to enhance Purchase Ledger KPIs and team performance.
· Participate in rota duties to process incoming post, prioritising urgent or legal communications.
· Manage new supplier creation, performing fraud-prevention checks and processing amendments only with verified authority.
· Request, obtain, and process credit notes where appropriate.
· Process and validate all billing related to void properties, liaising with local authorities and applying exemptions where possible.
· Scan and reference invoice documents accurately following registration.
· Reconcile supplier statements regularly, resolving any variances.
· Ensure correct recording of materials costs for HMRC CIS-related invoices.
· Validate new contractors with HMRC for CIS purposes prior to setup.
· Process ad-hoc payments as required in line with payment deadlines.
· Process rent refunds as authorised by the Income team.
Skills, Experience, and Training Requirements:
· At least 2 years’ experience working within a finance or purchase ledger environment.
· Proven high accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
· Ability to work confidently in a high-volume transactional setting.
· Strong communication skills with the ability to deliver excellent customer service.
· Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
· Demonstrates organisational values and professional behaviours at all times.
