Celebrating T Levels Week 2026 with Sammons Recruitment and East Sussex College Group

At Sammons Recruitment, we believe that every successful career begins with an opportunity. As we celebrate T Levels Week 2026 (19–23 October), we’re highlighting the importance of T Level industry placements in helping young people develop practical skills, build confidence and prepare for employment.

We’re particularly proud to be working with East Sussex College Group, welcoming students into our business and giving them valuable experience of a professional working environment.

Through this partnership, we’re helping to bridge the gap between education and employment, while demonstrating why investing in the next generation of talent matters more than ever.

What Are T Level Industry Placements?

T Levels are two-year technical qualifications for young people aged 16–19, combining classroom learning with practical workplace experience.

Equivalent in size to three A Levels, they offer an alternative route into skilled employment, apprenticeships or further education.

A key feature is the industry placement, which generally involves at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days) of practical experience with an employer.

For students, this means applying classroom knowledge in real working environments. For employers, it creates an opportunity to support emerging talent and help develop the skills businesses need.

7 Benefits of T Level Industry Placements

1. Building Confidence Through Real Experience

Entering the workplace for the first time can feel daunting.

Industry placements help students become familiar with professional environments, develop independence and gain confidence through meaningful responsibilities.

Working alongside experienced colleagues also helps young people understand workplace expectations and discover their own capabilities.

2. Developing Essential Employability Skills

Qualifications are important, but employers also value practical skills.

Through T Level industry placements, students can strengthen their:

  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Time management and organisation
  • Problem-solving and initiative
  • Professionalism and workplace confidence

These transferable skills provide a foundation for long-term career development, regardless of the industry students eventually pursue.

3. Connecting Education With Employment

One of the greatest benefits of work experience is seeing how classroom learning translates into everyday business activities.

Students gain insight into workplace responsibilities, business operations and the skills employers value.

For young people exploring their career options, this exposure can help them make more informed decisions about their future.

4. Helping Employers Build Future Talent Pipelines

T Level industry placements aren’t just beneficial for students.

For employers, they offer an opportunity to engage with emerging talent, identify potential future employees and develop relationships with local education providers.

At a time when skills shortages and workforce planning remain important business challenges, investing in young people can help organisations build stronger talent pipelines.

5. Bringing Fresh Perspectives Into Businesses

Young people bring enthusiasm, curiosity and new ideas into the workplace.

Their perspectives can encourage businesses to challenge established ways of working, embrace new approaches and share knowledge across generations.

At Sammons Recruitment, we recognise that supporting students is a two-way opportunity. While they learn from our teams, we also benefit from their energy and willingness to develop.

6. Strengthening Local Business Communities

Supporting T Level students helps create stronger connections between employers, colleges and local communities.

With offices in Hastings, Farnham and Basildon, Sammons Recruitment understands the importance of developing local talent and supporting employment opportunities across East Sussex, Surrey and Essex.

Partnerships between education providers and businesses can help ensure young people develop relevant skills while encouraging employers to invest in their future workforce.

7. Creating Opportunities Beyond the Placement

An industry placement can be much more than a temporary learning experience.

It can help students build professional connections, strengthen their CVs and gain valuable examples to discuss during future job interviews.

For some, the experience may open doors to apprenticeships, further training or employment opportunities.

Most importantly, it can give young people the confidence to take their next steps.

Our Partnership With East Sussex College Group

We’re particularly pleased to celebrate our collaboration with East Sussex College Group, which has helped us provide practical workplace opportunities for T Level students.

As part of this partnership, we’ve recently participated in a video featuring two students who gained experience within Sammons Recruitment.

The video offers an insight into their experiences and demonstrates the positive impact that meaningful workplace exposure can have on young people’s development.

It’s an opportunity to hear directly from the students and recognise the value of employers and education providers working together.

Watch our T Level students share their experiences

We’d like to thank East Sussex College Group for its continued collaboration and congratulate the students involved for their enthusiasm and commitment.

Why Investing in Young Talent Matters

At Sammons Recruitment, our role extends beyond helping employers fill vacancies.

We believe recruitment is about creating opportunities, developing relationships and helping people realise their potential.

Supporting T Level industry placements is a practical way to contribute to that commitment.

By providing young people with encouragement, guidance and meaningful experience, employers can make a lasting difference to their future career prospects.

And by investing in emerging talent today, businesses can help create a more skilled, confident and adaptable workforce for tomorrow.

Let's Help the Next Generation Succeed

As we celebrate T Levels Week, we’re proud to recognise the students, colleges and employers helping to shape the future of work.

Whether you’re an employer considering offering industry placements or a young person exploring your career options, taking that first step can create opportunities that last well beyond the classroom.
