Workshop Engineer

Working Hours: 7.30am – 5.30pm
Location: Hemel Hempstead

As a Workshop Engineer, you'll play a key role in keeping equipment in peak operating condition, ensuring operational efficiency and supporting the overall success of the service team.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting & Repair: Investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical issues reported by customers
• Engineering Duties: Carry out general engineering tasks, including working at height
• Servicing & Maintenance: Perform servicing and maintenance within the workshop
• Independent Work: Ability to work autonomously to troubleshoot and solve mechanical issues
• Documentation: Complete job cards, timesheets, and relevant paperwork promptly and accurately
• Parts Management: Request necessary parts in an efficient manner and maintain accurate records
• Customer Interaction: Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers
• Team Supervision: Supervise other workshop engineers as needed to ensure high-quality work and adherence to safety procedures
• Absence Cover: Provide support for the Workshop Foreman during periods of absence or annual leave
• Machine Preparation: Assist in booking in and out and prepare them for transport collections
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work meets safety and compliance standards. Adhere to health and safety policies
• Tool Safety: Ensure that personal and work tools are maintained safely and legally
• Workshop Organisation: Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment
• Professionalism: Present a professional image at all times when interacting with colleagues and customers
• Flexibility: Remain flexible and adapt to various tasks and responsibilities as required

Skills, Experience, and Training Requirements

• Experience: At least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar engineering or workshop role
• Technical Skills: Proficient in repairs and maintenance
• Safety Awareness: Knowledge of and adherence to safety standards and regulations
• Tools: Ability to use company-provided tools and equipment safely and effectively
• Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to work effectively with customers and team members
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of the work, including paperwork, repairs, and inspections
• IT Skills: Competence in using basic IT systems for job cards and paperwork management
