Yard Supervisor

Our client, a well-established business in the Southeast, is seeking an experienced Yard Supervisor to oversee day-to-day yard operations at their busy branch. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with leadership experience in a yard-based environment who is looking to take the next step in their career.

• Job type: Full time, permanent
• Hours: Monday – Friday on a rotating weekly basis, including some Saturdays
• Location: Bexhill
• Salary: £34,000p/a

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and support the yard team, making sure work is done safely and efficiently
• Train staff and give guidance when needed
• Provide good customer service for collections and enquiries
• Oversee safe loading, unloading, and storage of materials using forklifts or manual handling
• Organise daily deliveries and collections, keeping everything on schedule
• Check stock levels, report issues, and keep records accurate
• Carry out regular equipment checks and follow health & safety rules
• Keep the yard clean, tidy, and safe at all times
• Work with drivers and the transport team to ensure deliveries run smoothly

Skills, Experience, and Training Requirements:

• Experience working in a similar yard role
• Previous team leader or supervisor experience with the ability to lead a team with clear communication and organisation
• Valid forklift licence (Counterbalance or Sideloader preferred)
• Good understanding of health & safety and best practice
• Friendly and customer-focused, confident dealing with trade and retail customers
• Basic IT or scanner skills for stock control
• Physically fit and happy to work outside in all weather conditions
