Our client, a respected and innovative manufacturing organisation, is seeking a skilled Toolmaker to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to support the manufacture of new tools, the repair and renovation of existing tooling, and the production of high-quality samples and prototypes. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional precision, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a technical team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture new tools, repair and renovate existing tools, and produce samples and prototypes to the required accuracy and quality.
  • Plan jobs through all stages of manufacture, selecting appropriate machinery and processes to achieve the required tolerances.
  • Work to very close tolerances and confidently interpret engineering drawings.
  • Operate machinery and perform all activities safely and responsibly, maintaining a clean and organised working environment.
  • Manage multiple tasks effectively, adapting to changing priorities and urgencies.
  • Complete tasks within set timeframes to support departmental targets.
  • Provide technical advice and assist in training other toolmakers, new employees, and apprentices.
  • Ensure all tooling activities comply with company procedures.
  • Observe all Health and Safety regulations and company policies.
  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Tooling Manager or Engineering Manager.

Skills, Experience, and Training Requirements:
  • Good general education with strong numeracy and attention to detail.
  • Completed apprenticeship in toolmaking or a closely related discipline.
  • Skilled in grinding, turning, milling, and spark eroding using both conventional and CNC machinery.
  • Experience in injection moulding processes and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is essential.
  • Proven ability to work to extremely fine tolerances.
  • Confident in reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings.
