Head of Business Systems

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Business Systems to lead their Business Systems function within Information Services. This is a senior leadership role, responsible for the operational delivery, development, and ongoing support of critical corporate systems that underpin the organisation’s administrative and academic operations.

Working as part of the wider IT management team, you will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation to ensure systems remain robust, scalable, and aligned with institutional priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Business Systems team
• Take accountability for the management and operational delivery of corporate business systems and associated services
• Oversee the support, development, and implementation of administrative IT systems
• Work closely with senior leaders to balance departmental and organisational priorities
• Ensure system developments deliver measurable value and align with organisational objectives
• Manage multiple professional teams, ensuring effective performance and service delivery
• Lead on continuous improvement of IT service operations and practices
• Act as a senior point of contact for business-critical systems and services
• Exercise sound judgement, independence, and initiative in a complex stakeholder environment

Skills, Experience, and Training Requirements:

• In depth knowledge of software applications and systems applied to business outcomes
• Extensive management and leadership experience with demonstrable strategic impact
• Significant experience in corporate IT service operation and development
• Highly developed understanding of IT service delivery principles, theory, and best practice
• Proven experience managing multiple professional teams
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, influence, negotiate, and build effective relationships
• Experience working closely with senior stakeholders and leadership teams
