Our client, a well-established charity, is seeking an experienced Temporary Area Retail Manager to support their retail network across East Sussex for an immediate start. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing multiple charity shops, supporting shop managers and volunteers ensuring strong retail performance across the region during a key operational period.
The position is initially expected to last around 3 months and would suit someone with multi site retail management experience, ideally within the charity retail sector, who can quickly build relationships, provide operational support and help drive income across the shop portfolio.
What’s on Offer?
- Job type: Full time, temporary (approx. 3 months)
- Location: East Sussex (field based across multiple shops)
- Salary: £43,000 – £50,000 pro rata
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week (flexibility required)
- Immediate start preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the performance and day to day operations of multiple charity retail shops
- Provide leadership, support and coaching to shop managers and their teams
- Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to maximise shop income
- Ensure high standards of merchandising, stock management and shop presentation
- Support recruitment, engagement, and retention of volunteers
- Conduct regular shop visits and provide feedback and action plans where needed
- Ensure compliance with charity retail policies, procedures and operational standards
- Address operational challenges and provide practical solutions to support shop teams
- Work closely with the Head of Retail to report on performance, risks and opportunities
Skills, Experience, and Training Requirements:
- Proven experience managing multiple retail sites or stores
- Strong operational retail management background
- Experience leading and supporting shop managers or retail teams
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Strong organisational, leadership, and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
- Experience in charity retail highly desirable
