Field Service Engineer

Greater Manchester, North West | £35000 - £37000 per annum | Posted today

Location: Northwest England
Working Hours: 7.30am – 5.30pm

Are you an experienced engineer with a focus on power generation? We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Engineer. This role will allow you to work independently, providing on-site support and maintenance for generators, responding to callouts, and completing essential remedial work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Support: Investigate, diagnose, and resolve customer-reported technical issues with generators on-site.
  • Servicing: Service a variety of generators, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Independent Work: Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems with minimal supervision.
  • Documentation: Complete job cards, paperwork, and timesheets promptly and accurately.
  • Parts Management: Efficiently request and manage parts for maintenance and repairs.
  • Customer Service: Maintain professional relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Supervision: Supervise apprentices when required, ensuring high-quality work and safe working practices.
  • Compliance: Adhere to company procedures and safety standards when repairing and inspecting equipment.
  • Health & Safety: Take responsibility for ensuring safety standards are followed in line with company policies.
  • Professionalism: Maintain a professional image and approach at all times while interacting with customers and colleagues.
  • Tool Safety: Ensure that your personal tools are safe and compliant with regulations.
  • Flexibility: Remain flexible to a variety of tasks and challenges during the course of your duties.

Key Skills:

  • Generator Experience: At least 5 years of experience working with generators.
  • Electrical Competence: Strong skills in working on electrical aspects of generators.
  • Mechanical Competence: Proficient in mechanical aspects of generator repair and servicing.
  • Fuel Systems: Knowledge and experience working with generator fuel systems.
  • Control Systems: Competency in working on control systems within generators.
  • Large Generators: Experience working with large generators.
  • Lone Working: Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Customer Awareness: Strong interpersonal and commercial awareness, focused on customer satisfaction.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and critical thinking skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient with MS Office and other relevant technical tools.
